The story of “The O” project and a new wallpaper collection ’17 from Eugen Litvinenko.
The new wallpaper collection 2017 has been created by “The O”. The vision and inspiration of architects, illustrators and designers has resulted to the new collection of contemporary interior wallpaper, all the details will be unveiled this Friday, November 4, during the project presentation at Prostir86. The result of creativity of the chief ideologist, founder of “The O”, Eugen Litvinenko and works of all talented participants, will inspire on the new creative ideas.
Prostir86: The O. The letter “O” is about delight! Can we say that you create emotional design?
Litvinenko E.: An initial idea to evoke bright emotions and to inspire with brisk drawings. We want to bring something real, joyful, fervent in the interior.
Prostir86: What does the watercolor mean to you? Is it your favorite drawing technique? Is it love to images which can be created thanks to a watercolor?
Litvinenko E.: From one side, the water color is a simple material for creativity, from the other – the endless sea of opportunities and effects. Paints are compact and easy to use, they can always be taken in a pocket, I am really excited about that.
Prostir86: “The O” got lots of positive feedback’s and now you present the new project, New Collection 2017, together with architects, designers, illustrators. Please tell, what was the idea of collaboration?
Litvinenko E.: The main idea of a new joint collection appeared from the desire to vary the catalog with drawings and textures. To give the chance to young illustrators and the architects to show the vision of contemporary wallpaper. In our opinion, we’ve got very picturesque collection.
Prostir86: What images, colors, thoughts inspired you on the new The O project ‘17?
Litvinenko E.: The toy furniture at my daughters room prompted me to this concept. We found it a cool idea to create everything especially tiny.
Prostir86: What did you face in collaboration with creative persons, designers, architects, illustrators and what impressed you, and how colleagues proved themselves?
Litvinenko E.: In a New Collection 2017, you will see works: Eugen Litvinenko, Lilith Sargsyan, Sasha Godyaeva, Sergey Makhno, Olga Bogdanova, Olga Degtyarova, Aleksandra Verkhovskaya, Mila Yatsun, Victoria Dzhanis, Dmitry Plyako, Yulia Nadolnoy, Anna Piskunova, Sokolov Denis, Alyona Demeneva, Nikita Vlasov, Evgeny Chuguy, Lesya Plan, Bogdan Shiptenko, Katya Lokotskaya, Elena Godina, Andrey Byelik, Makarova Maria, Mariana March, NachoDe Juan-Creix Umbet. And the most difficult was to bring them all together.
We held meetings in Paris, during PDW2016, in architectural and design studios, but it without any doubt was cheerful, interesting and productive.
Prostir86: I wonder if you have any ideas of author’s drawings on other materials?
Litvinenko E.: We experimented with other materials. We applied it on tiles and textiles, but realized that we lose the essence and the divergence does not suit us. We made the decision to leave specialization of the company only in wallpaper. The next collection “wallpaper bathroom” is in progress, that will have an advantage to contact directly with water and wallpaper conducts itself as a tile.
Prostir86: Tell us about how drawings on paper are born? Is this an inspiration, creation of an image in your head and transfer it into a sketch with a further refinement?
Litvinenko E: It is difficult to describe and transfer process of creation, it is a creative stream, but any drawing or the image is the way of thinking. We see something around us, we perceive it in our own way, there are different experiences and when emotions overwhelm, there is a wish to pour them out on a paper or a canvas, or to display it in the photo. One word – “Creativity”.
Prostir86: Also, can you give an advice to creative persons? If artists want to work with you to create a project together, as you have shown in the example of the New Collection 2017, is it possible?
Litvinenko E: Of course we are open to the new talents and the new ideas! Everything that needs to be made: “Share your sketches to us by Email”.
